Melanie Bellanchof is a newer student to the school. She is Mrs. Bellanchof's daughter, her parents are either divorced or separated, as Melanie comes to town to live with her mother. She hates living with her, favors her father over her mother and doesn't bother to hide it from her, refuses all of her mother's attempts to win her over and when referring to anything that she dislikes she will say either "Don't know", "Don't care" or "Smells". At her house, she is mostly seen on the phone talking to a friend from her old school named Gloria.

Physical Appearance[]

Melanie's eyes were never seen. She has long strawberry blonde hair. She wears a yellow shirt.

Profile[]

She's always boring. When her mother tries to buy her something, Melanie doesn't like it for a special reason or simply because it "smells!". She always has a bad opinion of both her 402 colleagues and Miss Graves. However, this type of attitude makes her very popular at some point, children being jealous of her indifference.

She is one year older than the rest of the kids from room 402 and she does anything to annoy her mother. She also loathes the idea of being a cheerleader or joining her school's Girl Scouts troupe but seems to like crafting and the idea of having badges, although her mother doesn't give her any after Melanie makes a bracelet for her father's birthday even though her mother's takes place first.

She is the only student in class 402 who doesn't seem to like Penny since she forbade her from sitting next to her on the bus during their field trip and when she first came to class 402, she refused to sit with Penny when the chance was offered to her and chose to sit next to Polly, both times shocking the entire class and driving Nancy (who always wants to sit next to Penny) to imply Melanie was crazy for choosing Polly over Penny.

One day she becomes fed up with the fact that apparently nobody from the class likes her so Gloria advises her to use "The Slam Book", which they apparently used in their old school. Melanie decides to create a Slam Book and write something positive about the kids, earning their respect. However, The girls begin to fight when they write bad things about themselves on the slam book while Melanie gets far more attention than she bargained for and most of it comes from the girls asking for the book to keep chewing out other girls.

Melanie's bad attitude is most likely due to being forced away from her father, her old school, her friend Gloria, and being unable to even talk about her father without her mother throwing a fit and her mother trying to force her to socialize with the kids at her new school, whom Melanie doesn't like. Some of the few things that seem to make her happy in her new life are talking with Gloria and listening to a boy band.
